Money Reality Checks

August 18, 2007

The thing I love about money and looking at financial success in terms of Net Worth is that there is no bullshit or drama about it. If you run the numbers for Net Worth, you arrive at a number and that is all it is. For me its a very helpful tool, but I couldn’t do it until I was ready. I have had to retrain myself to think about money in the correct way, and it is something that I avoided dealing with until I had to. When I was doing WMA, I worked on it, but I was so focused on trying to make sales that I didn’t deal with controlling business expenses. There may have been a certain amount of self-sabotage there along with the usual MLM bullshit, but that is lessons learned.  I think I am paying the price a little bit for postponing this financial reality check, but it also motivates me to catch up. On one hand, I may not have the same asset base as some of my colleagues, but on the other I have very little debt.  As I make progress with the money issue, I find certain milestones come up that other people may be crossing as well. If I can execute on my plan, I think the story of it will be a good book to add to that canon which starts with Dominguez and goes through Ekert to Kyosagi, etc.  More to come as I get closer to positive Net Worth.
